WHAT IS BLACKS IN TECHNOLOGY

Blacks In Technology, BIT is a global non-profit organization and also the largest community and media organization that focuses on Black people in the technology industry. Through community-focused activities, events, and media, Blacks In Technology (BIT) is “Stomping the Divide” by establishing a blueprint of world-class technical excellence and innovation by providing resources, guidance and issuing a challenge to our members to surpass the high mark and establish new standards of global innovation. **BIT MISSION

Blacks In Technology is a tech-focused community and media organization that is dedicated to increasing the representation and participation of Black people in the technology industry.

Our goal and mission are to “stomp the divide” between Black tech workers and to fundamentally influence and effect change on an industry that has historically not sought parity with respect to Black workers.

Our intent is to level the playing field through training, education, networking, and mentorship with the support of allies, partners, sponsors, and most importantly our global members.

BIT CHAPTERS

Chapters are the lifeblood of Blacks in Technology and the chief conduit to local communities. BIT chapter organizers have the pulse of their respective regions and offer programs and events that cater to their unique needs. BIT has over 30 chapters spread in different cities around the world, Africa inclusive. As of the time of writing this article, there are only two chapters in Nigeria which are BIT IBADAN and BIT LAGOS.
